Worship Amidst the Wonders of Creation | A Worship Devotional Journey Through the City of Light
Welcome Dear Friends,
Today, I invite you on a sacred journey—a time of worship, wonder, and reflection in one of the most iconic cities in the world: Paris, France.
As we walk these streets, lift our eyes to the heavens, and open our hearts in praise, we’ll discover that even amidst the bustling boulevards and timeless beauty, God is here.
His presence is not limited to cathedrals. His glory fills every corner of creation.
Psalm 19:1 says:
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”
And today, the sky above Paris becomes a canvas of worship.
Every breeze through the trees, every ripple on the Seine, every echoing bell from a distant church tower—testifies of the majesty of our Creator.

The Power of Praise in Unexpected Places
Praise isn’t confined to Sunday mornings or sacred buildings.
It can rise from a sunrise at the Eiffel Tower.
It can echo through the arches of the Notre-Dame Cathedral.
It can breathe through the art of the Louvre, and whisper from the old pages of books tucked inside Shakespeare and Company.
One of the world’s greatest writers, Victor Hugo, whose statue stands just across the river from Notre-Dame, once said:
“To love beauty is to see the face of God.”
He understood what many forget—that the Creator of all things is also the author of all beauty.
When you look at the grandeur of Paris, you’re witnessing divine fingerprints.
Psalm 145:3 tells us,
“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; His greatness is unsearchable.”
Lord, You are the artist behind every sunrise, the melody behind every song, the architect behind every marvel.

The Eiffel Tower: From Rejection to Radiance
Let’s pause for a moment… and lift our eyes.
There she stands—the Eiffel Tower.
Tall, elegant, reaching into the heavens like a sentinel of steel, quietly watching over the City of Light.
Today, she is the heartbeat of Paris—beloved, admired, and photographed by millions.
But she wasn't always so cherished.
When Gustave Eiffel built her for the 1889 World’s Fair, the critics roared.
Writers, poets, architects—many of the most celebrated minds of the age—signed public petitions calling it an eyesore.
They called it "a monstrous skeleton," "an iron disgrace."
Some demanded it be dismantled even before it was finished.
But Eiffel had a vision.
He once said, “I ought to be jealous of the tower. She is more famous than I am.”
What began as a symbol of controversy has become one of the most beloved and recognizable wonders in the world.
Its iron frame, once mocked, now stands as a beacon of resilience, elegance, and enduring beauty.
And isn’t that just like God?
He takes what the world misunderstands…
What it ridicules…
What seems awkward, unfinished, or unworthy—
And in time, reveals its true brilliance and purpose.
God chooses what the world rejects.
He lifts what others tear down.
He takes what looks strange and turns it into a symbol of His glory.
The Eiffel Tower was once scorned—but today, people from every nation look up in awe.
And maybe… your life has felt like that tower in its early days.
Misunderstood. Mocked. Overlooked.
Maybe others haven’t seen the vision God has placed in you.
Maybe you haven’t yet seen it yourself.
But take heart.
God is building something beautiful in you.
Something that may not make sense now… but in time, will shine.
Just as Paris was once blind to the tower’s splendor, people may not yet see what’s rising in your life.
But the Architect of Heaven does.
He’s not finished with you.
Isaiah 61:3 says:
“To all who mourn… He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.”
So keep standing.
Keep rising.
Let the iron frame of your faith reach beyond the noise, beyond the fear, beyond the rejection.
One day, those who doubted you will look up—and see the radiance of redemption.
And they will know that what was once despised… was destined to inspire.
Spoken Prayer
Father, thank You for the reminder that what man rejects, You redeem.
You make all things beautiful in Your time.
Let the towers of our lives rise to honor You.
Let every story, even the broken ones, be rewritten by Your grace.
Worship Reflection
As you walk with us through the streets of Paris, may your soul sing.
Look up. Breathe deep.
Let your heart be lifted by the quiet chorus of creation.
Revelation 911

Story: Writers Who Walked These Streets
Across the Seine, not far from Notre-Dame, sits a little bookstore: Shakespeare and Company.
My wife Irene and I had the great honor to visit Shakespeare and Company a decade ago. She took a picture of me in front of the bookstore holding my first book, The Babylon Code. The bookstore now carries most of my books.
It’s welcomed writers like Ernest Hemingway, James Baldwin, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
They came searching for inspiration—and they found it in these cobblestone paths and candlelit cafes.
But did you know that many of them also wrote about spiritual longing?
Even those who didn’t know Jesus sensed the sacred pulse of this city.
Because God’s presence can be felt in unexpected places.
And sometimes, a song of praise rises even in the hearts that haven’t learned the words yet.
Psalm 46:10 says,,
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Yes, Lord. In this moment, we quiet our thoughts.
We slow our steps.
We remember that You are God, and You are here.
Notre-Dame and Sacré-Cœur: The Stones Still Sing
Paris is a city of cathedrals—
but among them, two rise not only in architecture,
but in eternal story.
Notre-Dame—Our Lady.
She has watched over this city for more than 850 years.
Her stones have borne witness to wars, revolutions, awakenings, and prayers whispered through the centuries.
But it wasn’t until she burned in 2019 that the world truly stopped to listen.
Flames engulfed her.
The iconic spire collapsed.
The smoke curled into the heavens like incense and grief.
It felt like a funeral for faith—a holy silence falling over the watching world.
But then… something miraculous.
When the fire faded and the ash settled, one thing remained untouched:
The golden cross at her heart still stood.
It gleamed through the ruin, radiant amid the rubble,
as if to declare from heaven:
“The fire may come. But the flame of God cannot be quenched.”
Isn’t that the gospel?
That in the middle of destruction, redemption shines.
That what the world sees as ruin, heaven sees as restoration.
That even when the walls fall, the cross still stands.
And then, high upon the hill of Montmartre, watching over the city like a crown of mercy, stands the Basilica of the Sacred Heart—Sacré-Cœur.
She was born from brokenness too.
Built after a time of national sorrow, not as a monument of pride,
but as a sanctuary of prayer.
Her doors have never closed.
Day and night—through war, through protest, through pandemic—
the prayers have continued.
Even when the city sleeps, the light in Sacré-Cœur glows.
A silent watchtower of intercession, where hope does not shout…
It whispers.
And it never leaves.
This sacred hilltop reminds us:
Hope does not fade.
Faith does not flee.
And love—God’s love—never fails.
Psalm 46:1-2 says:
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear…”
So whether your life feels like Notre-Dame in the fire,
or like Sacré-Cœur in the silence,
remember this:
The stones still sing.
The Spirit of God still dwells.
He is rebuilding what’s been broken.
He is breathing life into what the world called dead.
And your sacred heart—no matter how cracked or quiet—
is still a sanctuary of the Most High.
Devotional Prayer
God, we thank You for sacred places that still echo with prayer.
Let our hearts be like basilicas—filled with devotion, built on grace, and always open to Your presence.

Reflection: The River, the Palace, and the Beauty of the City
Now let us drift beyond the cathedrals and towers—
To places where glory doesn’t roar… but whispers.
We begin with the Seine River,
Winding like a silver ribbon through the soul of Paris.
Its waters carry the reflections of bridges, artists, and lovers—
But they also carry time.
Generations have strolled along these banks,
Pondering. Painting. Praying.
And like the river, the Spirit of God flows—
Not with force, but with faithfulness.
Psalm 36:9 declares:
“For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.”
The Seine reminds us:
We are all travelers.
Our lives are tributaries flowing into eternity.
Every bend, every reflection—an invitation to know the One who guides the current.
Then we step into splendor:
The Gardens of Versailles—a vision of majesty etched in symmetry.
Manicured beauty stretching toward the horizon.
Every tree in place. Every statue watching. Every fountain singing.
Built to impress kings and command awe,
Versailles stands in golden splendor—
And yet, even its gates of gold and halls of mirrors pale before the throne of heaven.
Revelation 21:21 says:
“The twelve gates were twelve pearls… and the great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.”
Versailles is stunning, yes—
But it’s only a glimpse.
A shadow of the Kingdom to come.
A faint echo of the eternal city prepared for those who love Him.
And so is all of Paris.
From the rose windows of stained glass
to the quiet corners of Montmartre,
from the statues of saints to the sketches of street artists,
from the laughter of children in sunlit squares
to the golden light that kisses the rooftops at dusk—
Paris reminds us of this truth:
God is not only mighty—He is beautiful.
And He invites us to find Him not only in the miraculous,
but in the marvelous details of every day.
The rustle of leaves.
The creak of a bicycle wheel.
The silence of early morning fog.
The smell of warm bread rising in a corner bakery.
All of it says:
“God is here.”
Psalm 150:6 proclaims:
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
That means the pigeons on the cathedral steps.
The artist sketching in silence.
The violinist echoing a hymn in the metro.
And yes—you and me.
Every breath is praise.
Every step is worship.
Every moment is sacred.
So wherever you are, pause…
and let the beauty around you become a doorway
to the presence of the One who made it all.
“Midnight in Paris” & the Longing for Eternity
Have you ever seen the film Midnight in Paris?
In it, the main character, Gil, walks the moonlit streets of Paris—dreaming of another era. One night, the clock strikes twelve… and suddenly, he’s transported back in time to the 1920s, mingling with literary legends like Hemingway and Fitzgerald, Picasso and Stein.
It’s magical, mysterious, and deeply human.
Because like Gil, we all long for something timeless.
A golden age. A deeper meaning. A glimpse of glory.
But here’s the truth—what Midnight in Paris portrays as fantasy, God offers as reality.
You don’t need to step into the past to find purpose.
You don’t need a time machine to connect with greatness.
In Christ, eternity steps into your midnight.
Jesus enters our most nostalgic moments and whispers,
“I am the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
The longing for beauty, for connection, for significance—that’s not just nostalgia.
It’s eternity written on our hearts.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart.”
So when we marvel at Paris lit by the moon…
When we’re moved by a painting, a poem, or a memory…
It’s not just emotion.
It’s a divine reminder: We were made for more than this world.

Continue with Final Reflection
And that’s why we praise.
Not just because the world is beautiful—but because God is even more beautiful still.
Not just because Paris shines—but because heaven shines brighter.
So let your life become a light.
Let your heart become a melody.
And let this moment become a midnight encounter—
not with ghosts of the past, but with the God who is present, eternal, and full of glory.
Final Reflection
You may never travel to Paris, but the message is the same—
Wherever you are, you are surrounded by the majesty of God.
You don’t have to see the Eiffel Tower to stand in awe.
You don’t need a passport to walk in praise.
Your kitchen can become a sanctuary.
Your morning commute can become a procession of worship.
Your broken heart can become a cathedral of healing.
Because wherever you lift your eyes to Jesus—there, He dwells.
Final Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this journey.
Thank You for beauty, for breath, for life.
Thank You for the wonders of Paris that whisper Your name—
and for the truth that no matter where we are, we can worship You.
Thank You for the beauty that speaks of Your glory,
for the history that reminds us of Your faithfulness,
and for the longing that draws us closer to eternity.
You are the God of cathedrals and cafés, of rivers and rooftops—
but more than that, You are the God of every heart.
You build beauty from ashes.
You raise strength from sorrow.
You turn monuments of stone into living songs of praise.
Lord, bless every person who joined us today.
Whether they feel radiant like a tower,
or scorched like a cathedral,
whether they’re standing in joy or kneeling in pain—
meet them with Your love.
Wrap them in Your peace.
Flood their hearts with hope.
Surround their lives with purpose.
Draw them deeper into Your love, into Your Word, into Your presence.
Remind them that their life is not random or forgotten—
but divinely written into the story You are still telling.
Let them leave this moment carrying Your presence.
Let them walk forward filled with awe, anchored in truth, and lifted in praise.
In Jesus’ mighty and matchless name we pray—
Amen.
Spoken Blessing
Now may the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He shine His face upon you and give you peace.
May He turn even your broken places into altars of worship.
And may your life—like this city—become a light to the nations.
And may your life be a song of praise—
In Paris… in your home… and to the ends of the earth.
Carry this praise with you…
from Paris, with love… to the world, with purpose.
Until we meet again—
Amen.
