Dear Friends,

As we reach Day 13 of the "40 Days to Save America" campaign of prayer, fasting and repentance, let us reflect on Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” In a time when division and confusion seem to surround us, we are called to a higher standard—to renew our minds and hearts in alignment with God’s Word.

Today, we encourage you to seek a deeper understanding of God’s truth, allowing His wisdom to guide our thoughts and actions. As we renew our hearts, may we become vessels of His light, bringing hope and peace to those around us. Let us pray together for a nation that seeks God’s will and for leaders who are guided by wisdom, compassion, and righteousness, as emphasized in my new book the #1 bestseller The Trump Code (Charisma House/FrontLine, September 17, 2024).

Call to Prayer: A Time of Teshuvah as Yom Kippur Approaches | A Message from Kevin Jessip, Co-Founder of The Return

As we approach the sacred time of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, we are reminded of the deep significance of repentance, or teshuvah, turning our hearts back to God. This message comes from our dear prayer partner, Kevin Jessip, Co-Founder of The Return, who has graciously provided a heartfelt prayer for this important season. We are grateful for his dedication to guiding us in prayer during these days of reflection and spiritual renewal. Let us join together in prayer, seeking God's mercy and presence in our lives and for the nation of Israel.

Dear Prayer Warrior,

This is a very important week for Jewish people around the world. This Friday is the eve of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

In Leviticus 23:27 - 28, Yom Kippur is described as a sacred assembly, a day to deny yourself, present a food offering, and is a Sabbath day.

Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present a food offering to the Lord. Do not do any work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God.

And in Leviticus 16, God gives Moses instructions for the High Priest to enter into the Holy of Holies. This was done only once a year on Yom Kippur. There were also instructions for the sin offering and the scape goat. All of these special rituals and sacrifices were for the purpose of cleansing the children of Israel from their sin.

Repentance is a powerful thing. According to the Word of God, it is not just an emotion of remorse or regret. It is much deeper than that.

The Hebrew word for repentance is "teshuvah" (תְּשׁוּבָה), which means "to return" or "to turn back." It means if you were going down the broad and wide path, you would turn around and walk towards the straight and narrow path. Choosing to depart from wickedness to follow God’s righteousness.

Repentance is a heartfelt process of acknowledging and confessing sin, and deciding to return back to God. Many prophets from old including John the Baptist were sent as God’s messengers to encourage His people to repent and to turn away from wickedness. And for believers, we understand that repentance must be part of our walk with God.

Joel 2:12-13
Even now,' declares the Lord, 'return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.' Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.

We need to understand that the God we serve is Holy. And it is sin that separates us from Him! And to be separate from God, is no different than being kicked out of the Garden of Eden.

Repentance, is not just about avoiding punishment or the assurance of going to heaven. To have our sins wiped away, being cleansed from wickedness, and choosing to walk down the straight and narrow, is about living in God’s presence. David, a man after God’s own heart, penned these words in Psalms 51:10-12:

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence
    or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
    and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”

May this be our prayer.

So as we enter into the days leading up to Yom Kippur, please keep Israel in prayer. Pray that as nation there would be a genuine teshuvah" (תְּשׁוּבָה) in every heart. That as a nation, Israel would turn away from all wickedness and follow God’s ways.

Heavenly Father,
We come before You seeking Your presence and guidance in these uncertain and difficult times. Lord, we lift up our voices to You, knowing that You hear every cry and see every struggle we face. As the storms of life rage around us, we ask for Your hand of protection over those in the path of danger, especially those in Florida facing the force of Hurricane Milton. Surround them with Your angels, provide them with safety, and give them the strength to endure what lies ahead.

Lord, we pray for Your peace to settle over the Middle East, where tensions and conflicts threaten the lives of so many. Protect the innocent, bring wisdom to leaders, and let Your light shine in the darkest places. We know that You are the God of all nations, and we ask for Your mercy over Israel and the entire region.

Father, we lift up America to You. In this time of great spiritual battle and political chaos, we ask for Your intervention. Turn hearts back to You, and bring revival to this nation. Let Your Holy Spirit move powerfully through the land, awakening souls to Your love, grace, and truth. As we engage in 40 days of fasting and prayer, we ask that You hear our cries and heal our nation.

For those who are feeling lost or afraid, remind them of Your promise to never leave nor forsake us. Help us to place our trust in You, knowing that You are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. May we find peace in Your presence and courage in Your Word, standing firm in our faith no matter what comes our way.

Lord, we pray for those who do not yet know You, that their hearts would be softened and their eyes opened to the truth of Your Gospel. Draw them near to You, and let them find hope and salvation in Your Son, Jesus Christ. We ask that You move powerfully in their lives, bringing them from darkness into Your marvelous light.

We trust in Your perfect will and timing, Father. May Your name be glorified through all things, and may Your Kingdom come. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer.

Let us cover those in the path of these storms, seeking God’s protection and mercy.

From the latest update provided by NC.GOV, it is evident that churches are playing a central role in relief efforts across the region, serving as distribution points for food, water, and essential commodities. While some schools and colleges are involved, it is mainly through the church that communities are receiving support. We ask for prayers that God would bless these centers, that they may serve as His hands and feet, touching lives and bringing hope in Jesus' name.

Buncombe County: Biltmore Baptist Church, 35 Clayton Road, Arden, NC 28704
McDowell County: Grace Community Church, 5182 Highway 70 West, Marion, NC 28752
Watauga County: First Baptist Church, 375 West King Street, Boone, NC 28607
(These are three of the six locations where Baptist on Mission has set up feeding units)

Additional points of distribution have been established across impacted counties, providing not only essential supplies but also free public Wi-Fi for area residents. For further information, please consult local government sources for updates.

Prayers for Relief Centers and Community Members: Please pray for God's supernatural blessing over these centers, that they may be a place of refuge and hope for those in need. Cover the people in each of these counties in prayer, asking for God’s supernatural rescue mission, divine intervention, and miraculous recovery. We are praying with great expectation for miracles, breakthroughs, and healing for all affected.

Lord, we pray that You surround them with Your mighty angels, guarding them in all their ways. May no harm befall them, and may Your presence be their constant shield. We ask that You give them wisdom, courage, and strength as they lead, and may they be guided by Your Holy Spirit in all their decisions.

Father, cover them with Your grace and keep them safe from all threats and dangers, both seen and unseen. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every plan of the enemy is rendered powerless in the name of Jesus.

We trust in Your faithfulness, Lord, and believe that You will be their refuge and strength, their fortress in times of trouble. May they always find rest and peace in Your shadow, knowing that You are their ultimate protector.

A Proclamation

Americans have always found power and unity through prayer. In 1988, the Congress, by Public Law 100-307, called on the President to issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a "National Day of Prayer." Today, on this National Day of Prayer, we once again come together to give thanks to Almighty God for the bountiful blessings He has bestowed on our great Nation and to ask for His unfailing counsel. We also acknowledge our dependence on God's love to guide our families, communities, and our country away from harm and toward abundance and peace.

Our Nation acknowledges that religious liberty is a natural right, given to us by our Creator, not a courtesy that government extends to us. The First Amendment recognizes the freedom of religion and safeguards this right against government infringement. The United States' steadfast commitment to upholding religious freedom has ensured that people of different faiths can pray together and live in peace as fellow American citizens. We have no tolerance for those who disrupt this peace, and we condemn all hate and violence, particularly in our places of worship.

Throughout our Nation's history, Americans have consistently turned to God for guidance at pivotal moments. In 1775, the Continental Congress first declared a day of prayer, asking American patriots throughout the colonies to pray in earnest for divine help in forming our Republic. Seventy-five years ago this June, President Franklin D. Roosevelt led the Nation in prayer as courageous Americans stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. He prayed: "Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor . . . Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith." Today, we also pray for strength for our Nation and our Armed Forces as we face new challenges at home and abroad.

Our Nation's honored tradition of prayer has sustained us and strengthened our trust that God will continue to watch over and accompany us through the best of times and the darkest hours. May we as Americans never forget the power of prayer and the greatness of our Creator. On this National Day of Prayer, let each of us, according to our own faiths, call upon God for His guidance and express our gratitude for the love and grace He bestows on us and our country.

Now, Therefore, I, Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 2, 2019, as a National Day of Prayer. I invite the citizens of our Nation to pray, in accordance with their own faiths and consciences, in thanksgiving for the freedoms and blessings we have received, and for God's guidance and continued protection as we meet the challenges before us.
